I grew up in Baltimore, and at eighteen I joined the United States Navy. The Navy taught me what excellence looks like when nobody is watching.
After the Navy, I went into financial services and became a Regional Vice President with Primerica. That job taught me how to sit across from a family and be honest about something that matters to them.
Then I started my home renovation business with one purpose: to completely enhance homes and increase what the owners walk away with. I had seen too many homeowners sell a house for less than it was worth. The house was often one repair away from a better offer, and nobody had shown them how to get there.
That is what Fix2Sell does. We fix it now, and you have the option to pay at closing. The Concierge Agency coordinates the repairs and the improvements, so you do not manage the work. We plan the work for the changes that raise the final price, and we skip the ones that do not.
More than ten years ago, Travell started the Fix2Sell program at The Concierge Agency, and I was the first contractor to agree to do it. I stayed because the agency is not a sales pitch. It looks at the owner’s entire situation first, and then it gives them real options, because there is no single answer for everybody.
My business grew into a multimillion-dollar company. It was inducted into the Largo, Maryland General Contractors Hall of Fame, and I was inducted into the Inner Circle of Marquis Who’s Who in America. I later received an honorary doctorate. I am grateful for each one. But the result I am most proud of is the bigger return our clients get from repairing and renovating the things that truly add value and improve how buyers see the house. Clients get more at the closing table.
When a house is prepared the right way, buyers walk in and feel something. That first impression changes the offers. I have seen owners keep thousands more because of one smart decision made before the sign went up.
